Groundwater flow through a Miliolite limestone

چکیده
This paper describes a study of groundwater flow in a coastal Miliolite limestone aquifer in western India. An examination of field information suggested that the transmissivity of the aquifer varies significantly between high and low groundwater heads. Pumping tests indicate that this is due to the development of major fissures in the upper part of the aquifer. A regional groundwater model with varying transmissiyities is used to represent the field behaviour. The model is also used to examine the effect of artificial recharge on the alleviation of saline intrusion problems in the coastal area.

Carbonate-Dissolving Bacteria from ‘Miliolite’, a Bioclastic Limestone, from Gopnath, Gujarat, Western India
In the present investigation, the abundance and molecular phylogeny of part of the culturable bacterial population involved in the dissolution of "miliolite", a bioclastic limestone, from Gopnath, India, was studied. Carbonate-dissolving bacteria were isolated, enumerated and screened for their ability to dissolve miliolite. Amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis (ARDRA) indicated 14 oper...

Problem statement: Making iron ore is one of the largest mining projects in south east of china. Due to the development of mining activities in that site, it has become necessary to increase the depth of exploration. Increase the exploration depth makes the mining tunnels subjected to the karst water inrush. Approach: A hydrological and a hydrogeological model for the Makeng area have been deve...
متن کاملPoro-hydro-thermal Analyses of Heat Transport in the Limestone Around the District Heating Tunnel in Copenhagen
The temperature field evolving in the limestone around the district heating tunnel in Copenhagen due to operation of the long-distance heating pipelines is investigated by means of poro-hydro-thermal numerical analyses. The presented parametric studies illustrate the coupling between the temperature and the groundwater flow. It is shown how a general horizontal groundwater flow and the hydrauli...

The Khash alluvial aquifer, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, supplies the water needed for agriculture, drinking, and industry in the Khash area. In order to predict the future status of groundwater level and water quality, and to find aquifer management solutions, groundwater flow and solute transport models were developed using MODFLOW and MT3DMS. GMS 10.3 was used to develop the model. Ca...
